Shanti Bhavan
Since 2010, Ravi has partnered with Shanti Bhavan Children's Project in India. They named the kindergarten residence in honor of Ravi's grandmother, Krishna Nehru Hutheesing, in 2019.
SB is a boarding school in India for the poorest of the poor that empowers children from impoverished backgrounds to take control of their lives and bring positive change to their families and communities. Each child receives 17 years of educational intervention, from the age of four until they graduate from college and begin their career. SB's commitment extends from their first day of school to their first day of work, leveling the playing field and allowing children to compete in the global marketplace on their own merit.
Shanti Bhavan represents a radical change from conventional short-term basic literacy educational models by promoting academic achievement, instilling values of global citizenship, and emphasizing leadership development. SB's program gives individual attention to every aspect of a child’s upbringing: emotional development, mental and physical fitness, social and cognitive growth, and academic excellence. In September of 2019, Shanti Bhavan named the kindergarten residence after Ravi's grandmother, Krishna Nehru Hutheesing. The celebration included speeches, unveiling of the plaques, cheers from the students and teachers, and the South Indian tradition of passing out sweets.
The kindergartners give Ravi a personal tour of Krishna Nehru Hutheesing House.
